2019/2020 season

In the 2019/2020 season, Karine Babajanyan performs the title role of Tosca at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Oper Leipzig, where she also appears as Minnie in La fanciulla del West. As Iris (Mascagni), she makes her debut with the Berliner Operngruppe at the Konzerthaus Berlin, while she sings Minnie at the Korea National Opera in Seoul and Lisa in Das Land des Lächelns in Shanghai. UPDATE: The performances of La fanciulla del West in Seoul and of Das Land des Lächelns in Shanghai unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.



Tosca in Berlin und Wien, Madama Butterfly in Torre del Lago

Following her acclaimed performances in Tosca at the Staatsoper Berlin in May and at the Vienna State Opera in June, Karine Babajanyan will sing another Puccini title role for her return to the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago. On August 12 and 23 she will perform one of her signature roles, Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly



Lehar, Strauss and the premier of 'Die Gezeichneten'

Following her successful performances as Lisa in Das Land des Lächelns in Shanghai, Karine Babjanyan returned to the role in February 2019 at the Budapest Palace of Arts. Later that month, she sang the title role in Ariadne auf Naxos at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Düsseldorf), and will return to that production in June 2019. In April 2019, she will make an exciting role debut as Carlotta Nardi in the Leipzig Opera premier of Franz Schreker's Die Gezeichneten.



Fall 2018: Puccini and Operetta

 

The first half of the 2018/2019 season for Karine Babajanyan was filled by singing Puccini heroines in both reprisals and premiers of productions, as well as a little bit of operetta. In September, she returned to Oper Leipzig as her highly acclaimed Tosca. Only four days later, on October 3, she premiered a new Puccini role: Minnie in La fanciulla del West. She then appeared as Lisa in Franz Lehar's Das Land des Lächelns at the Grand Opera Shanghai before returning to the Hannover State Opera as Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly.



Aida in Hanover and Verdi's Requiem in France

From April to June 2018 Karine Babajanyan performs the title role of Aida in a new production at the Hanover State Opera and sings Verdi's Messa da Requiem with the Orchestre national d'Ile-de-France in France, among other venues at the Paris Philharmonic and the Opéra Royal of Versailles.



Elisabetta in "Don Carlo" in Hanover

After having triumphed at the Hanover State Opera in several Puccini roles, Karine Babajanyan will sing her first Verdi part in Hanover in January and February 2018. She will perform four performances of Don Carlo, starring in the role of Elisabetta di Valois from January 28 to February 18. More information on http://bit.ly/2DyAtqU



Three Puccini title roles

The first half of Karine Babajanyan's 2017/18 season is entirely dedicated to Giacomo Puccini. In October 2017 Karine reprises the title role of Manon Lescaut at the Hanover State Opera, in November she returns to the Staatsoper Stuttgart in Monique Wagemakers' legendary staging of Madama Butterfly and in December she performs Tosca at Opera Leipzig and at the Yerevan Opera Theatre.



Madama Butterfly in Prague

On September 24, 2017 Karine Babajanyan will reprise one of her signature roles, that of Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly in a one-off performance at the Prague National Theatre. Mimì in "La bohème" in Torre del Lago

In July Karine Babajanyan makes her debut at the Puccini Festival of Torre del Lago. On July 21 and 28 she will perform Mimì in La bohème alongside Piotr Beczala as Rodolfo. More information on http://www.puccinifestival.it/cast-la-boheme/
